Generally speaking, Receptionists are employed by companies to answer telephones, greet visitors, arrange and schedule appointments, and other similar tasks. Some Receptionists also prepare communications and letters; maintain filing systems, and much more....

Skills Required for a Career as a Receptionist

Some employers utilizing Receptionists might require that they are proficient in such topics as human relations, customer service, computer operation, communications, and other related subjects.

Receptionists must be friendly, personable, and approachable, since much of their work involves close contact and communications with clients, customers, and the like. Receptionists are often a customer's first impression of a company; thus, Receptionists carry serious responsibility to project an appropriate company image.
